I knew things would be “interesting” when I showed up at the Hampton Hotel at Chestnut Ridge Resort. As I walked thru the front door, I knew there would be no power. Jennifer had texted me earlier in the day telling me things may not be on schedule due to the power outage. So as I walked thru the doors at the hotel, the ladies in the lobby handed me a flash light and directed me to the steps. Yes folks, this is a first for me but I thought to myself, I’m battery operated *I* don’t need power to do my job! LOL I’ve never had to walk thru a dark hallway and up many flights of steps to get to where the bride would be…..but hey, I’m always up for a challenge. I won’t lie, I was so winded after climbing all those flights of steps with all my camera equipment that I stood outside their door for several minutes before knocking because I didn’t want to look like “that girl” who couldn’t climb steps without being winded…hahahaha!!
As she opened the door, she had a smile but I knew she was nervous. The ironic thing, Jennifer and Michael are both meteorologists and the fact that the weather was affecting the day was just something you couldn’t predict. Trust me, it all worked out later! Roughly an hour before she was to get ready, the power came on-this time for good! As the day went on, Jennifer’s smile got bigger and bigger. She handled everything with just calmness even though I knew she was so nervous inside. In all honestly, the day turned out to be perfect! So brides when you are stressed out because you can’t find the right shade of nail polish….remember, there are brides that have to deal with way worse…..and her day still ended with a rainbow!!
